Job Summary

Develop and deliver uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs) by designing firmware in C/C++, writing device drivers, and integrating sensors with SPI, I2C, and UART protocols. Collaborate on hardware architecture, create schematics and PCBs, and oversee manufacturing and 3rd party fabrication. Conduct system optimization, regression testing, and validation using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, followed by at-sea operations to launch, recover, and analyze data from small boats and ships. Maintain documentation, design specifications, and test reports throughout the project lifecycle. Work onsite at NIWC PAC under a 9/80B schedule with a Secret clearance.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Active SECRET (or higher) clearance
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with +4 years of relevant experience
  • Master of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with +2 years of relevant experience
  • Must be flexible and responsive to customer needs
  • Ability to transport or lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds across the facility
  • Ability to move about the warehouse, stoop, kneel, or reach for extended periods
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 20 feet
  • Ability to work in various temperatures and inclement weather
  • Willingness to conduct at-sea test and evaluation (T&E) to include operations onboard small craft and large ships at sea

Desired Qualifications

  • Existing security clearance
  • Embedded systems: electronic hardware implementation/testing and software programming
  • Basic Linux operation
  • Experience with Embedded Linux board bring-up, bootloaders (U-boot), and build systems (Yocto)
  • Experience with Embedded Linux driver development
  • Embedded RTOS Experience (freeRTOS)
  • Language programming fluency C/C++
  • Python
  • GIT workflow
  • Programming experience with: Digital Signal Processing
  • Field-Programmable Gate Arrays
  • Microcontrollers
  • Real-time programming
  • Experience with robotics applications
  • Linear and non-linear controls theory and application
  • Experience working in teams to develop solutions, deliver products, and test and evaluate performance
  • Experience and skill analyzing experiment data to determine results as feedback into the development cycle
  • Strong technical writing skills to provide input to technical reports and briefing material
  • Experience with uncrewed underwater vehicle (UUV) operations, including experience with sensor integration, mission constructs, and command and control
  • Experience with at-sea test and evaluation (T&E) to include operations onboard small craft and large ships at sea
