Job Summary
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable backend code in C# or Golang under the guidance of senior engineers. Assist with feature development, debugging, code reviews, testing, and production issue investigation across Wati's messaging and revenue orchestration platform. Build and maintain reliable APIs, services, integrations, and internal tools with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability. Collaborate with product, frontend, QA, and engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions. Learn and apply engineering best practices, including automated testing, observability, documentation, and secure software development. Where relevant, contribute to AI-powered product capabilities such as agent workflows, LLM integrations, knowledge retrieval, tool calling, or evaluation pipelines. Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity, while maintaining strong engineering judgment and code quality.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency in C# and/or Golang, or strong fundamentals and willingness to learn and work with these languages
- Solid understanding of programming fundamentals, data structures, APIs, databases, and software engineering practices
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team
- Able to work on-site in the Shenzhen office five days a week for at least six months
Desired Qualifications
- Previous internship, project, open-source, or hands-on software development experience
- Familiarity with LLM-powered applications, such as Gemini, OpenAI, Claude, or open-source models
- Experience or personal projects involving AI agents, RAG, vector databases, function/tool calling, workflow automation, or prompt engineering
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Gemini
- Interest in evaluating and improving AI system quality, reliability, safety, latency, or cost
- Experience with cloud services, distributed systems, message queues, or backend observability tools
