Job Summary
Software Development Engineer in Test (Contract) focused on validating a Java codebase migration. You will write, own, and maintain production-grade automation code, integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines, and work as a technical peer alongside Backend Engineers and DevOps. You will also extend and maintain our existing automation framework running in Jenkins. Design and implement test strategies for the Java 8 to Java 21 migration, write automated test code in Java for API/backend/integration layers, set up CI/CD pipelines with Groovy/Jenkinsfile, validate functional and non-functional behavior, perform API/integration/regression testing, collaborate with Java developers to assess migration risks, manage defects with root-cause analysis and technical docs, and maintain test documentation and validation reports.
Required Qualifications
- 2-4 years of Software Development in Test (SDET) or backend development experience
- 1-2 years writing automation in Java
- Strong Core Java (JSE) skills, multithreading, collections, memory management
- Hands-on experience building or extending automation frameworks
- Strong experience in API testing and backend validation using RestAssured, Postman, or similar tools
- Hands-on Jenkins experience, writing and maintaining Jenkinsfiles
- SQL knowledge, relational databases
- Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools (Jira, TestRail, or similar)
- Strong English communication skills for collaboration with a US-based team
- Ability to work fully remote under US time zones
- Experience in fintech or high-transaction systems (nice-to-have)
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases and RDBMS interaction via application layers
- Experience with performance/load testing tools (JMeter, K6)
- Understanding of logging/monitoring/observability tools (ELK, Grafana, Datadog)
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (nice-to-have)
- Fully remote position under US time zones
