Software Development Engineer – Data Security and Protection

Job Summary
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data-protection services and cryptographic libraries for Workday's Security Platform. Implement and integrate enterprise-grade Key Management Services (KMS) and Hardware Security Modules (HSMs); apply modern cryptographic primitives (AES, RSA, ECC) and protocols (TLS, PKI) to protect tenant data. Build secure, high-performance backend services in Java/Go/Scala, ensure code quality and test coverage, and collaborate with principal engineers and product managers to translate security requirements into technical solutions. Work with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker); focus on encryption, tokenization, and hashing across secure data-at-rest/in-transit workflows. 4–7 years of backend software development experience with core security expertise and experience with tools like HashiCorp Vault, AWS KMS, or similar.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
