Software Developer – ETL

Job Summary

Design, implement, and optimize complex ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing solutions, and database integrations across cloud platforms like Azure and AWS. Develop transformation, cleansing, and migration solutions while performing SQL procedures, schema design, and database performance tuning. Conduct unit testing, debugging, and code optimization throughout the SDLC, collaborating with stakeholders, QA teams, and subject matter experts. Create technical documentation, support architecture alignment, and participate in project planning and estimation. This 7-month hybrid role in Toronto requires 5+ years of data warehousing experience with Azure Data Factory, Python, and Oracle technologies, focusing on large-scale, mission-critical applications within a public sector or government context.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with data warehousing design and development
  • Strong expertise in ETL/ELT development and data integration
  • Advanced SQL skills including PL/SQL and T-SQL
  • Experience with relational databases including Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL
  • Knowledge of dimensional and relational data modeling
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Server and Azure Data Factory
  • Experience creating Azure Data Factory pipelines and custom data integration solutions
  • Proficiency with Python and Unix Shell scripting
  • Experience with Elasticsearch performance tuning and reporting solutions
  • Experience using GitHub for version control
  • Experience working with JIRA and Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of Oracle technologies including Oracle Enterprise Manager, RAC, Data Guard, Exadata, and Oracle Warehouse Builder
  • Experience with database recovery, refresh, failover, and performance tuning activities
  • Experience with data migration and integration across different operating environments
  • Technical analysis and software development expertise
  • Application design, coding, testing, debugging, and deployment experience
  • Experience with large-scale, mission-critical applications
  • Knowledge of web-based applications, microservices architecture, and integration technologies
  • Experience producing technical documentation and system design artifacts
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and SDLC methodologies
  • Understanding of usability, security, and privacy considerations in application development
  • Experience working on projects involving federal, provincial, or municipal government organizations
  • Experience with environmental data migration and integration initiatives
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, methodologies, and governance processes commonly used in public sector environments
  • Experience following structured project delivery and system development methodologies
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Proven troubleshooting and critical thinking capabilities
  • Strong customer service orientation and consulting skills
