Software Asset Management Specialist - Microsoft & Oracle or/and Red Hat

Job Summary

Produce Enterprise License Programs (ELPs) for Microsoft, Oracle, and Red Hat across on-prem and cloud environments. Navigate billing, tracking, and measurement systems like Azure Active Directory and Intente to provide cost transparency and ensure fair charge allocation. Negotiate software contracts with external vendors and internal stakeholders to optimize spend and mitigate compliance risks. Identify optimization opportunities and drive initiatives to achieve savings while leveraging AI capabilities to reduce manual effort. Support the global SAM team by implementing best practices, monitoring performance metrics, and managing contract updates.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant proven experience with direct responsibility and hands-on management of Microsoft and Oracle or Red Hat software portfolio in enterprise environment
  • creating comprehensive fully optimized ELPs from data collection until finish
  • strong understanding of license restrictions, benefits, optimization opportunities, BYOL concepts for product use within AWS/Azure Cloud
  • active hands-on work with general Microsoft specific system and usage billing, tracking and measurement tools
  • proficient use of SAM tools (ideally FlexeraOne) and supporting data sources
  • advanced hands-on MS Excel skills (V/H-Look Ups, Pivots, Complex calculations, ...)
  • proven track record in adopting and embedding AI solutions in SAM operations
  • profit and Loss (P&L) calculations and accruals for cost impact
  • Fluent spoken and written English (strong B2+)

  • Understand Microsoft licensing concepts and product use rights within containers, in on prem as well as in cloud operating environments
  • Navigate and leverage Microsoft software related billing, tracking and measurement systems and tools like Azure Active Directory, CMDB, My Access, Intune
  • Navigate and leverage Microsoft and Oracle or Red Hat software related billing, tracking and measurement systems
  • Provide transparency of costs for SW contracts and assure fair allocation of charges to BUs and Service owners based on software usage
  • Negotiate successfully across the organization and with external suppliers/vendors in a constructive and collaborative manner
  • Maintain stakeholder community and enables information sharing environment
  • Identify and drive proactively initiatives to achieve SW related savings, mitigate compliance risks, developing best practices and processes, to continuously improve software asset management service and to ensure compliance with budget and contractual requirements
  • Identify necessary changes and play key role in the complex software contract negotiations, manage demand and contract updates, liaise with external vendors, legal, contract and sourcing teams
  • Support and drive implementation of global SAM standards, processes, controls, reporting, and monitor agreed performance indicators and control metrics
  • Improve continuously SAM by leveraging AI capabilities to reduce manual effort, able to identify recurring patterns and spot optimization opportunities
