Job Summary
Design scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions in "Sprint 0" mode by defining architecture, documenting technical decisions, and preparing the technical foundation for upcoming work. Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and Development Managers from discovery through delivery to ensure solutions align with business goals and team capacity. Resolve architectural challenges, validate design decisions, and integrate seamlessly with the broader Petal platform by establishing standards, managing debt, and mentoring Technical Leads. Leverage deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, IAM, and AI-native development to build reusable services that power multiple SaaS products.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture
- proven track record of designing and delivering enterprise-scale distributed systems

- experience designing shared services, reusable APIs, developer platforms, and internal products
- AI-native approach to software engineering
- Expert-level system design skills
- experience building resilient, scalable, secure, and highly available cloud-native applications and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of API-first design, event-driven architectures, microservices, integration patterns, and modern application platforms
- Hands-on technical capability
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure
- Strong experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Experience working closely with Product Managers, Designers, Development Managers, and Technical Leads
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience establishing engineering standards, architecture governance, security best practices, and technical roadmaps
- A collaborative leadership style
- Strong DevOps and engineering productivity experience
