Job Summary
Coach individual participants in softball skills and supervise practices, contests, and bus trips while enforcing discipline and sportsmanship. Maintain accurate records of team lists, injury reports, scores, stats, and incident reports; report all data to the athletic office and newspapers as requested. Oversee facility safety conditions during student presence and ensure weight rooms, locker rooms, and showers are secured before and after sessions. Provide guidance and counseling on scholastic achievement, college entrance, and citizenship throughout the school year, and determine athlete academic eligibility. Attend all Athletic Department and MIAA meetings to stay informed on rule changes and trends.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of softball and its rules
- Ability to instruct players in all facets of the sport
- Evidence of ability to get along with pupils, parents, colleagues, and other citizens
- CPR Certification
Desired Qualifications
- Previous softball coaching experience
- Previous experience in either high school, college or both
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
- Completion of the MIAA Coaches Education Class and/or other requirements by the MIAA
