Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify student needs and deliver individual and group counseling to support social, emotional, and behavioral growth. Provide crisis intervention, develop behavioral intervention plans including Functional Behavioral Assessments, and manage short- and long-term case services. Offer specialized assistance to homeless students, collaborate on special education evaluations, and refer families to community resources. Comply with mandatory reporting laws and participate in transition and prevention programs. Work closely with school staff and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support within the North - Thornton campus environment.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field from an accredited university
- Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Initial or Professional Special Services License with endorsement in School Social Work
- Strong knowledge of the IEP (Individualized Education Program) process
- Demonstrated subject matter competency
- Ability to prioritize and meet federal, state, district, and school deadlines
- Proficient in data analysis and using data to inform interventions
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexible and adaptable to the dynamic needs of a school environment
- Ability to clearly convey information to students, staff, parents, and external partners
- Assess student needs and adjust interventions effectively
- Foster collaborative relationships across school and community networks
- Provide compassionate support while managing challenging situations
- Develop creative, individualized strategies to address student needs
- Must be comfortable navigating various community resources and school facilities
- Regular attendance
Desired Qualifications
- Coursework in school and special education preferred
- One year of experience working with students in a school setting preferred
