Job Summary
Social Worker at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House’s Women’s Mental Health Shelter providing comprehensive social services, case management, housing counseling, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed support to clients with diagnoses such as Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and schizophrenia.Responsibilities include completing psychosocial assessments, ILPs, and housing/benefits applications within regulatory timelines; assisting clients with government benefits (Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, EPIC, SSI/SSD, etc.), coordinating with on-site psychiatric and medical providers, facilitating groups/workshops to promote mental wellness, supporting housing stability and ongoing aftercare, ensuring thorough documentation in databases, and collaborating across disciplines to maximize resources and improve client outcomes. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, commitment to social justice, and the ability to work in a 24/7 urban shelter environment.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credentials required
- Spanish fluency strongly preferred
- Full-time availability, Sunday through Thursday, 9:00am–5:00pm with one later shift day per week
- Experience with unhoused populations and co-occurring mental health and medical complexities strongly preferred
