Job Summary
Conduct individual psychotherapy for patients with diverse diagnoses, including adults and children, while providing rapid clinical psychosocial assessments and crisis intervention. Negotiate psychosocial problems inherent in the patient population and advocate for systems on behalf of patients and families. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary clinical teams to manage complex, fast-paced hospital environments, utilizing knowledge of specific medical illnesses and medications. Document findings in medical records according to departmental policies while maintaining strict patient confidentiality. Work in a hybrid schedule at the Revere Health Center, serving a diverse community with an emphasis on multicultural sensitivity and cultural competency.
Required Qualifications
- Clinical Experience in a medical setting 2-3 years
- Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker [LICSW - State License]
- Master's Degree Related Field of Study
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor [LMHC - State License]
- Related experience 3-5 years
- Demonstrated experience working successfully with people of various backgrounds and lifestyles in a manner that engages ongoing self-reflection and continual learning
- Experience negotiating, advocating, and navigating systems
- Experience providing therapy services
- Strong assessment and treatment skills
- Good organizational skills
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective team collaboration
- Demonstrated ability to understand the role of social worker in a hospital setting and to work in a complex, fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of specific medical/psychiatric illnesses, procedures and treatments, related medications (i.e., psychotropic, chemotherapy, etc.), acuity versus chronicity, and effect on normal growth and development
- Ability to provide rapid clinical psychosocial assessments and brief, short term or long term treatment/management with individuals, families, couples and/or groups
- Ability to provide crisis intervention/treatment/management skills
- Demonstrated competency in age specific, developmental behaviors; cultural issues; effect and management of illness
- Knowledge of community agencies/resources
- Ability to advocate/negotiate systems for/with patients
- Documents in medical record according to departmental policies and procedures
- Maintains patient/family confidentiality
- Ability to collaborate with team, consultant with and teach other clinicians
- Adaptability to change – willingness to engage and adjust workflow to changes within the health care delivery system
