Job Summary
The Social Worker II is responsible for assisting residents with housing stabilization and retention through counseling, support services, community outreach, and advocacy. Key responsibilities include managing a caseload, conducting comprehensive assessments, providing trauma-informed case management, crisis intervention, and facilitating community-building activities. Required skills include knowledge of homelessness issues, trauma-informed care, substance abuse, excellent crisis intervention, and strong communication skills. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, along with relevant experience in social services, particularly with low-income populations and mental health.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related field
- Two years of experience working with very low-income people in a social service setting
- Two years of experience providing direct services to individuals with substance use and mental health issues and/or individuals with co-occurring disorders
- Two years of experience linking individuals to agencies to meet their medical, mental health and other service needs
- One year of experience working with seniors, families, or individuals, depending upon the building or portfolio
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of substance abuse and mental health issues and their effects on individuals, families, elderly and immigrant populations
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues related to aging in place
- Knowledge of current resources and service/benefits programs in San Francisco and the Greater Bay Area
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working within a Harm Reduction Model
- Experience working in a Permanent Supportive Housing setting
- Experience providing housing stabilization, housing retention, and eviction prevention services
- English/Spanish or English/Cantonese or English/Mandarin or Russian/English
