Social Worker, Felony Alternatives to Incarceration

Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and write detailed evaluations for incarcerated clients with complex clinical needs, utilizing the risk-needs-responsivity model to reduce recidivism. Render diagnoses per DSM-5-TR and provide trauma-informed case management addressing substance use, housing, and trauma while coordinating with Rikers Island for discharge planning. Manage compliance monitoring with court mandates, communicate with collateral contacts and stakeholders including judges and defense attorneys, and attend court as needed for support. Make referrals to community-based organizations, participate in interdisciplinary case conferences, and provide crisis intervention. Maintain client records in electronic databases and assist with data collection and grant reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • LMSW
  • minimum of 3-4 years in criminal justice and/or related fields such as healthcare, substance use and mental health treatment, homeless services and supportive housing, domestic violence programming, sex offense treatment, and services for people with developmental disabilities
  • currently licensed in New York state
  • Excellent time management
  • written skills
  • skilled communicator
  • ability to work in a multi-disciplinary setting
  • ability to maintain strong relationships with multiple agencies and organizations both onsite and in the community
  • Prior experience working in a court or criminal justice setting
  • Prior experience working with justice-involved communities
  • Bi-lingual
  • legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment
