Job Summary
Provide individual and group counseling, psychoeducation, and crisis intervention to youth aged 16–21 residing in a 120-bed shelter. Conduct psychosocial assessments, screen for mental health and substance use concerns, and write summary reports with in-house and external referrals. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, consult with Case Managers, and actively link clients to community-based providers. Become trained in evidence-based practices such as DBT and SBIRT while maintaining a safe, nurturing environment. Meet regularly with a clinical supervisor for supervision and case plan discussions. Flexible schedule required. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Earn LCSW licensure within three years.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
- Earn LCSW Licensure within three (3) years of hire date
- One (1) year of experience providing counseling and case work with at risk youth
- Knowledge of trauma and mental health issues facing multi-stressed youth and families
- Experience working in a shelter or residential setting
- Knowledge of external and social service systems
- Experience working with survivors of human trafficking and/or intimate partner violence
- Solid assessment, interviewing and crisis intervention skills
- Excellent verbal, written and problem-solving abilities
- Flexible schedule
