Job Summary
Delivers Special Education Services including Functional Behavior Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plans, counseling, and IEP participation while ensuring compliance with special education laws. Counsels students individually and in groups to address social, emotional, and behavioral problems, coordinating school, home, and community services through RtI and PBIS frameworks. Provides crisis intervention for child abuse, suicide threats, and family emergencies, and may serve as the school-based PBIS coordinator managing data collection and intervention strategies. Consults with administrators, teachers, parents, and community agencies to develop positive behavior interventions and conflict resolution strategies. Gathers and interprets behavioral data to monitor progress and participates in problem-solving teams to identify high-risk students. Performs record keeping, attends clinical supervision reviews, and completes required in-service trainings.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Graduate degree in Social Work
- Two years of experience in school setting
- Appropriate State licensure
- Knowledge of Special Education regulations and process as applied to the needs of the students
- Knowledge of RtI/PBIS, including Problem Solving Team Process, progress monitoring and data analysis
- Knowledge of child and adolescent social/emotional development
- Knowledge of general organization and functions of a public school system
- Ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflict with students, parents, and community groups
- Good organization and communication skills
- Knowledge of data collection and the ability to interpret data
- Knowledge of research supported interventions related to academic, social and behavioral concerns
- Ability to be flexible in order to meet the unique needs of the assignment
- Knowledge of Medicaid
- Ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
- Ability to climb stairs, poles or ropes
- Ability to bend, kneel and crouch
- Ability to reach, hold, grasp and turn objects
- Ability to use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards
- Ability to physically restrain students
