Job Summary

Social Worker, Ambulatory Care provides psychosocial assessments and interventions for patients and families in Oncology & Hematology; offers counseling related to diagnosis, adjustment to illness, crisis intervention, and liaison with community resources and financial assistance. Works with nurse coordinators to ensure continuity of care, advocates for services, maintains clinical documentation, and participates in an interprofessional team. Requires MSW with registration in Ontario and bilingual (English/French) abilities; includes potential relocation reimbursement and a temporary full-time role based in Ottawa, Ontario.

Required Qualifications

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • M.S.W. graduate from an accredited university program in social work (Preferred)
  • B.S.W. graduate will be considered if other qualifications are met (Essential)
  • Member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (Essential)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience within a pediatric or health care setting (Preferred)
  • Fluent in both English and French (Essential)
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an inter professional environment
  • Knowledge of community resources (Preferred)
  • Ability to operate a computerized patient care information system (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide trauma informed care (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate strengths-based and family systems approaches (Preferred)
  • Ability to deliver presentations (Preferred)
  • Experience with culturally safe practices for families new to Canada (Preferred)
  • Experience in crisis, trauma and bereavement intervention (Essential)
  • Strong problem-solving skills (Essential)
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills (Essential)
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work (Essential)
  • Bilingualism (French/English) validated by proficiency assessment (Required)
