Job Summary
Provide patients and families with psychosocial support for chronic, acute, or terminal illnesses through clinical assessment, crisis intervention, and brief therapy. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to evaluate medical conditions, modify treatment plans, and arrange appropriate discharges per Joint Commission and CMS standards. Counsel clients on diagnosis and prognosis while identifying environmental impediments to progress through interviews and record reviews. Assist family caregivers with education and referrals to community resources, and support the director and volunteer coordinator with public relations initiatives. Work 40 hours per week from 8:00am to 4:30pm, rotating every 8th weekend and holiday, with entry into airborne isolation rooms requiring an N95 mask fit.
Required Qualifications
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a program accredited by the Council of Social Work Education or LBSW
- Social Work experience in health care settings
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for counseling and guidance
- Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, cultures and their history and origins
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
- Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do
- Talking to others to convey information effectively
- Actively looking for ways to help people
- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
- Ability to speak to others in a professional manner
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
