Job Summary
Provide professional social work and crisis intervention services to seriously mentally ill clients within a 100-bed Secure Treatment Unit. Develop and implement creative treatment and recovery plans while engaging clients, families, and caregivers in clinical interventions and risk reduction strategies. Advocate on behalf of clients for appropriate services and resources, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team and community providers. Maintain documentation in accordance with legislative standards and participate in psycho-educational sessions. Teach, educate, and supervise Social Work students. Requires a Master's Degree in Social Work, three years' experience in mental health, and registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. English level A- is mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work
- Three years' experience in a mental health setting
- Registration and member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
- Knowledge, skills and training in concurrent disorders
- High level of knowledge, skill and confidence in using electronic health record systems for clinical documentation and navigation
- Knowledge of community resources, corrections, and applicable legislated acts (MHA, PHIPA, The Health Care Consent Act, etc.)
- Understanding of recovery-based treatment and programs of clients with severe and persistent mental illness
- Demonstrate ability to work both independently and in a professional inter-disciplinary team environment
- Strong advocacy & conflict resolutions skills
- Strong organizational skills and work ethic, with excellent oral and written communication skills
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression
