Job Summary
Social Work Assistant in Outpatient Oncology provides clinical and administrative support to a team of ambulatory oncology social workers. Responsibilities include managing referrals and screening needs (SDOH) for patients undergoing active cancer treatment; collaborating with social work and medical teams; developing knowledge of oncology resources; assisting patients and families with applications for transportation, Medicaid lodging, UW financial assistance, oncology grant programs, and related resources; and contributing to the Oncology Donor Fund and interdisciplinary team meetings. Ideal candidates have experience in a medical setting, strong multi-tasking and communication skills, and computer proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Social Work or a Bachelor’s Degree in the behavioral sciences AND two years experience in the social work field
- Associate of Arts Degree in the behavioral sciences AND four years of work experience in the social work field
- Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration
