Job Summary
Present, edit, and produce shortform video news and features for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts, capturing major events through sharp scripting and visual storytelling. Pitch stories to the social platforms editor, develop the account's tone of voice, and self-shoot video in studio or on location. Produce scripts adhering to strict editorial standards, source and verify video including open source intelligence, and monitor performance data to evolve best practices. Deliver training as required and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while collaborating with video and social teams. This 12-month fixed-term contract or internal secondment operates in a hybrid London environment, with a minimum salary of £51,661.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience appearing on camera and presenting short form video news
- Experience writing and reporting scripts, ideally for social media, with a flair for distilling complex information into engaging and compelling narratives
- Experience editing video in Premiere Pro
- A deep understanding of social video audiences and the news video ecosystem
- A nuanced understanding of how to optimise content performance for each platform
- Experience verifying video and using open source intelligence (OSINT)
- Experience of working collaboratively with video producers, designers and editors in a high-pressure environment and working to tight deadlines
- Able to manage multiple projects at once including daily news and long-term stories
- A creative person with an eye for new forms of storytelling, a deep interest in social media, and a desire to innovate
- Journalistic training including knowledge of media law or equivalent experience in a national or international newsroom
