Job Summary
Develop and implement lesson plans for in-person, distance, and virtual learning that fulfill district curriculum requirements. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing to plan instructional activities. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and create a classroom environment conducive to learning. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula for students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Direct the work of assigned instructional aides and volunteers while overseeing their completion. Communicate regularly with parents, students, and district personnel via phone, email, or video conferencing. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal. Participate in staff development activities and attend faculty meetings as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
- Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
- Physical Education Teachers: Current automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Prolonged standing
- Frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Work prolonged or irregular hours
