Job Summary
Social Studies Teacher/Coach responsible for delivering district-aligned social studies instruction and supervising athletic activities. Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with TEA curriculum, accommodate diverse learning styles, and assess student achievement. Coordinate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEPs, supervise student athletes in practices and competitions, and ensure compliance with UIL rules. Responsibilities include managing classroom behavior, planning activities and travel for athletic events, supervising instructional aides/volunteers, adhering to budget and purchasing processes, coordinating transportation, and maintaining equipment and records. The role requires collaboration with campus staff, parents, and the community, and entails coaching duties, transportation duties (driving bus for out-of-district events), and promoting sportsmanship and student development both academically and athletically.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Appropriate teacher certification in social studies for grades 9-12
- Demonstrated competency in core academic subject
- AED certificate
- Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
- One year student teaching or approved internship and experience as coach or participant in sports assigned
