Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop case plans, and provide crisis intervention services to birth, foster, and adoptive families. Perform home visits, attend court hearings, and offer support, training, and education regarding foster care policies. Maintain accurate, confidential case records and prepare legal documents, service plans, and reports in compliance with state and agency regulations. Provide recruitment and retention to foster families while reporting any suspected child abuse or neglect as required by statute. Complete investigations and assist clients with transportation as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree with a major in one of the following human services areas: social work, sociology, psychology, family ecology, consumer/community services, family studies, family and/or child development, guidance/school counseling, counseling psychology, criminal justice, human services, interdisciplinary studies in social science, education, law enforcement, forensic psychology, behavioral science, gerontology, special education, education of the emotionally disturbed or educa...
- One year experience as a social service worker
- Completion of CWTI in foster care or adoption
- Valid Michigan Driver's License
- Ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability
- Must not show any evidence or indication of convictions involving child abuse or neglect
- Must not show any evidence or indication of location on the Central Registry
- Must not show any evidence or indication of participation in the abduction, sale or trafficking of humans
- Must not show any evidence or indication of unethical conduct impeding the best interests of children
- Must not show any evidence or indication of felonies involving harm or threatened harm to an individual within the 10 years immediately preceding the date of hire
- Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background and central registry checks
- Ability to maintain records, prepare reports, conduct correspondence, communicate verbally with a range of clients and professionals, and maintain favorable public relations
- Knowledge of social work theory methods, principles, practices, techniques, and language for casework, group work, and community organization

- Successfully complete all initial and ongoing training requirements
