Job Summary
Provides social service assistance to eligible clients in areas including food, lodging, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance; interviews clients to determine need and eligibility; prepares accurate and complete client records; refers clients to community agencies and maintains effective working relationships with the same; ensures compliance with program policies and procedures. Greets and interviews clients to determine eligibility for assistance; records dispositions and relevant information (income, expenses, family/work history); assists with applications for assistance; processes vouchers for food, clothing, and furniture; directs clients to Lodge kitchen, Thrift Store or Distribution Center for assistance. Provides clients with food from pantry; manages donated pantry items and inventory; maintains itemized account of pantry disbursements and inventory. Office-based role with part-time hours; requires ability to read/write English; physical tasks include light lifting (<25 lbs.) and standing/walking; affiliated with The Salvation Army church and mission. Benefits include PTO and 403B retirement; requires high school diploma or GED and two years of public/social service experience or equivalent.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years experience working in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
