Job Summary
Social Service Assistant to support Veterans Services at Valor Home Summit. Responsibilities include assisting with shelter operations and therapeutic programming, providing trauma-informed care, aiding clients with paperwork, offering continued case management, coordinating with agencies to secure appointments and resources, supporting clients toward independent living, accompanying clients to appointments, organizing and leading voluntary group activities, performing daily administrative duties (phone, emails, records, supply tracking), maintaining facility documents and compliance with COA and state/federal requirements, promoting anti-discrimination practices, attending trainings, and ensuring timely shift reporting. Requires strong communication, knowledge of community services, Microsoft Word, valid Ohio driver’s license, and background check; minimum education preferred is High School Diploma or GED with crisis-intervention experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to utilize trauma-informed care model to provide open communication, fair and equitable treatment
- Excellent in-person, phone, email and written communication skills
- Knowledge of community services
- Microsoft Word skills
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability
- Criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation)
- Reliable transportation and a phone
