Job Summary
Conduct client intake to gather background on medical conditions, treatment history, and daily functioning. Prepare and file SSDI and SSI applications, Requests for Reconsideration, and Requests for Hearing before an Administrative Law Judge. Complete SSA forms including disability reports and work history reports while requesting and organizing medical records and treating-source opinions. Prepare cases for hearings by creating exhibit files, pre-hearing briefs, and hearing memoranda. Track case status and statutory deadlines across initial, reconsideration, hearing, and Appeals Council stages. Communicate regularly with clients, SSA field offices, and medical providers. Manage documents and cases through SSA's Electronic Records Express (ERE) portal and the firm's case management system. Work a 40-hour week in a Boston-based personal injury firm expanding its disability practice.
Required Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload with competing deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication and client-service skills
- Comfort with case management software (deleted ERE) and Microsoft Office
Desired Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years prior Social Security Disability or SSI experience strongly preferred
- deleting general litigation or personal injury paralegal experience considered
- Fluency in additional languages a plus
