Social Security Disability Legal Assistant

Job Summary

Conduct initial client interviews to gather detailed information regarding medical conditions, treatment history, and prior Social Security filings. Explain the SSD process, including timelines and appeal stages, while assisting clients in completing necessary paperwork. Evaluate claim strength by analyzing functional limitations and identifying potential red flags such as insufficient documentation. Collaborate with attorneys to review borderline cases and communicate case status clearly to clients. Requires proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Filevine; high school diploma required.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 Suite Applications, including but not limited to, Outlook, Word, and Teams.
  • Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
  • Organizational Skills.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Case File Management such as Filevine.
  • Experience with lead generation systems such as Lead Docket.
  • Experience in Customer Service via in-person and over the phone, while monitoring and diffusing escalated issues.
  • Experience talking on the phone regularly and corresponding through email with a professional and confident tone.
  • Secondary education, bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
