Job Summary

Assist with planning, organizing, and conducting regular practice sessions while developing and implementing game strategies and tactics. Teach fundamental skills, techniques, and sports rules to student-athletes, then supervise them during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips. Promote discipline, responsibility, and good sportsmanship among players while ensuring compliance with school, district, and state athletic regulations. Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, provide mentorship on personal development and college opportunities, and enforce all school policies and codes of conduct. Work evenings, weekends, and during school breaks as needed, and assist with maintenance of team equipment and uniforms.

Required Qualifications

  • Prior coaching experience
  • Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate
  • Valid FHSAA certification
  • Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and during school breaks as needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Coaching experience in the assigned or a closely related sport
  • Experience mentoring youth and fostering a positive team culture
  • Familiarity with academic eligibility requirements for student-athletes
  • Knowledge of the sport's rules, techniques, and safety practices
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff, parents, and community partners
