Job Summary

Assist individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness who have mental illness or a co-occurring substance use disorder or other medical impairments apply for Social Security disability benefits through the SOAR (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery) process. Requires a 4-year degree in a related field and two years of direct human services experience; preferred experience with families facing mental illness or substance abuse; HMIS experience; bilingual ability may be required in high Spanish-speaking communities. Preference given to candidates with lived experience of substance use disorder or homelessness; experience with multi-cultural service delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, psychology, sociology, nursing, family studies, early childhood development or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years’ experience in human service delivery, counseling or in a community-based setting required
  • One-year experience working with families with mental illness or substance abuse preferred
