Job Summary
Maintenance Mechanic (SO11) at Cornell University responsible for responding to facilities trouble calls, troubleshooting and repairing boilers, burners, electric systems, chillers, and other HVACR equipment; coordinating with tradespeople for overtime or repairs; informing occupants of potentially dangerous conditions; documenting maintenance activities and billable hours; ensuring safe and efficient operation of campus facilities; delivering quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff; adhering to safety protocols including respirator use; working in a union, contract environment with a strong emphasis on teamwork, communication, and a culture of belonging; requires high school diploma/equivalent, five years of mechanical/building trades experience, valid US driver's license, ability to read blueprints, lift 100 lbs, and willingness to work varied shifts and overtime; preferred qualification includes MAXIMO CMMS experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of five years’ experience in building trades or other relevant mechanical experience
- Must have and maintain a valid US driver’s license
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Experience working in a team environment to accomplish goals
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints, drawings, tech manuals and detailed work instructions
- Ability to lift and/or move 100lbs
- Subject to shift changes and extended working hours (including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays)
