Job Summary

Maintain all exterior areas, walkways, stairs, and fire escapes in a snow-free environment by shoveling, sweeping daily, and clearing ice as needed. Shovel roofs, knock down icicles, set out ski racks, and coordinate with heavy equipment operators to salt parking lots and ramps. Perform daily checks and maintenance on snow removal equipment including snow blowers and gators. Drive company vehicles, operate fire suppression equipment during emergencies, and conduct periodic safety inspections of work and public areas. Report unsafe conditions or broken equipment immediately. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions up to eight hours daily, including weekends, holidays, and overtime during peak demand.

Required Qualifications

  • Two years of high school or GED equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Be eligible for WSI's vehicle insurance policy
  • Have personal, reliable transportation
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds frequently
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds routinely
  • Must be able to lift 80 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to bend, sit, and stand for several hours at a time
  • Must be able to perform tasks in small spaces and awkward body postures regularly
  • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions, some being extreme in nature
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime during peak demand times
  • Must be able to work schedule changes on short notice
  • Must be able to operate fire suppression equipment as emergency situations require
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required
  • Must be able to follow guidelines and procedures for vehicle maintenance and repair
  • Must be able to adhere to and promote safety policies and procedures relating to the operation of snow removal equipment and daily maintenance duties
  • Must be able to report any unsafe working conditions or broken equipment to the supervisor or the safety concern notebook
  • Must be able to be familiar with the MSDS program and sheets
  • Must be able to maintain an orderly work area
  • Must be able to be on constant alert for any unsafe conditions and work behaviors
  • Must be able to perform periodic inspections of work and public areas
  • Must be able to provide foul weather gear
