SMT Engineer

Job Summary

Program and set up SMT equipment including pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, screen printers, and AOI systems. Troubleshoot production issues to improve yields and reduce defects while performing routine maintenance on manufacturing tools. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency and document all machine setups and quality control activities. Train operators and technicians on equipment operation and best practices. Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve manufacturing challenges. Work in an ESD-controlled environment with a 6:00am–2:30pm or 2:00pm–10:30pm shift.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in SMT process engineering within an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with SMT equipment such as pick-and-place machines, through-hole soldering systems, reflow ovens, screen printers, and AOI inspection systems
  • Familiarity with SMT components, solder paste processes, and reflow profiling
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional production and engineering teams
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Must be able to bend, reach, and occasionally move trays, carts, or equipment components
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to walk within production areas
  • Must be able to interact with manufacturing equipment
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working in designated production areas
  • Must be able to work in an ESD-controlled electronics manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to work the A Shift - 6:00am - 2:30pm
  • Must be able to work the B Shift - 2:00pm - 10:30pm

  • Experience improving SMT yield, defect reduction, and production efficiency
