SMS Wellness Coordinator (Job # 3789)

Job Summary
Conduct a needs assessment to identify current health trends and plan school-based wellness activities for students, families, and staff. Recruit and chair a building-level wellness team to develop a vision, set goals, and implement initiatives including yoga, mindfulness, and social-emotional learning practices. Collaborate with county-wide coordinators through virtual meetings and community organizations like Calvert Behavioral Health. Facilitate professional development for teachers and submit evidence of program success. Complete the Yoga Ed Online Teacher Training. This extra-duty, extra-pay position supports Calvert County Public Schools' comprehensive wellness policy during the 2026-2027 school year.
Required Qualifications
- A passion for wellness promotion and the ability to model requirements outlined by the CCPS wellness policy
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Management, leadership, and human relations
- The ability to exercise good judgement in decision making
- The ability to carry an assignment to completion
- The ability to work cooperatively with people at all levels with respect
- Flexibility and adaptability to alternatives to the above qualifications as Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable
- The ability to successfully accomplish tasks akin to the responsibilities listed
- The ability to recruit and chair a school wellness team
- The ability to hold monthly wellness team meetings
- The ability to collaborate with county-wide wellness coordinators through virtual monthly meetings
- The ability to develop school wellness vision, goals, and initiatives
- The ability to implement wellness activities
- The ability to successfully complete the Yoga Ed Online Teacher Training
- The ability to facilitate school-based PD and support teacher's implementation of SEL, yoga, and mindfulness practices
- The ability to collaborate with community-based organizations such as Calvert Behavioral Health, Calvert County Health Department, and the American Heart Association
- The ability to submit evidence and evaluation of wellness plan
- Must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation
- Must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment
- Must successfully complete a drug screen
- Must report all former employers in which the applicant may have had direct contact with minors
- Must submit contact information of the current employer, all former school employers, and all former employers not school related
- Must include contact information for organizations in which the applicant has volunteered, coached, mentored, tutored or otherwise have direct contact with minors
