Job Summary
Mechanic role at SMS Mill Services, LLC at the Jackson, TN JSW steel mill. Responsible for managing diesel, hydraulic and electric mobile equipment; performing maintenance on machinery and systems; lubricating components; replenishing fluids; diagnosing and repairing electrical and lighting systems; conducting quality control checks; reviewing repair orders for accuracy; testing equipment and systems for performance. Requires 5+ years mobile maintenance experience; strong diagnostic and repair skills with diesel/hydraulic heavy mobile equipment; ability to read equipment service manuals; commitment to safety; strong computer skills; self-directed with the ability to work with minimal supervision; troubleshooting abilities; excellent communication. Required Qualifications
- (5+) years mobile maintenance experience preferred
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills with diesel and hydraulic heavy mobile equipment
- Ability to read and understand equipment service manuals - required
- Commitment to working safely and to standards required
- Strong computer skills preferred
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, team orientated, work with minimum supervision
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment breakdowns
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to organize and multi-task
- Adhere to all local, state, OSHA, environmental and site-specific regulations
- Safety: wear PPE, provide a safe environment for all employees and visitors
