Job Summary
Haul raw or cooked racked product plant-wide and weigh/load product into and out of smokehouses, steam boxes, and chills. Mark house numbers and day code letters on product identification tags, then enter scanning data, weights, destinations, and rack numbers into the computer and handheld program. Operate brine, garner, and air chills while documenting product temperatures according to Quality Control specifications, including salometer readings. Push and pull up to 1,000-pound product racks from staging areas to and from smokehouses, operate powered tow motor equipment, and perform general housekeeping and cleaning of the entire smokehouse department. Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP, and SQF requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Ability and willingness to perform basic math functions (i.e.: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Ability and willingness to work overtime and/or weekends as needed
- Ability and willingness to scan or input into the computer system, all product film, boxes, casings, clips, and ingredients for all daily product runs, including change overs
- Ability and willingness to follow formulations on the computer and accurately record and report food safety or product information
- Ability and willingness to lift/lower/carry up to 20 pounds or greater with back and legs
- Ability and willingness to push/pull manually up to 1,000 pounds
- Ability and willingness to both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously
- Ability and willingness to flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently
- Ability and willingness to stand/walk/climb/bend for up to 10 hours
- Ability and willingness to work in wet conditions and cold temperatures at 35 degrees
- Ability and willingness to work in temperatures of 90 degrees to 100 degrees
- 3 months of work history with the same employer
Desired Qualifications
- Machine Operator experience
- Experience in a manufacturing setting
- RF Scanner experience
