Job Summary
Interim Teacher role supports licensure path by fulfilling regular duties of a licensed teacher while participating in professional development. Responsibilities include preparing students for instruction, designing instruction aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning and division curriculum, planning and delivering instruction to meet objectives, administering formal assessments and tracking student learning gains, evaluating student progress and providing prompt evaluative feedback, maintaining records and progress reports, leveraging materials, technology, and resources to promote critical thinking and problem solving, implementing classroom management to ensure a safe, productive environment, and engaging in ongoing professional development; the position includes mentorship support from a seasoned SCPS mentor teacher and is ideal for paraeducators or career-switchers pursuing licensure.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university -OR- 60 course credits and currently enrolled in a teaching program
- One (1) year of experience working with children, ideally within a teaching, leadership or mentorship role
- Actively enrolled in the coursework required to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
