Job Summary
Design application architecture for smart city services covering mobility, utilities, public safety, and citizen engagement. Define architectural patterns and standards for scalable, interoperable solutions while collaborating with solution architects, developers, and data teams to deliver integrated digital experiences. Lead modernization efforts through microservices adoption and containerization, ensuring seamless integration with IoT systems and third-party APIs. Support development teams by reviewing designs, conducting technical assessments, and troubleshooting integration challenges while maintaining compliance with data privacy and cybersecurity requirements. Document solution diagrams, API specifications, and system interfaces to align with city strategic goals. This role sits within Devoteam's Strategy & Transformation business unit, leveraging our 25+ years of innovation to shape future urban services across EMEA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 8+ years in software development and application architecture
- At least 3 years of experience designing or delivering smart city or large-scale public sector applications
- Proven experience in building modular, API-driven, and cloud-native application architectures
- Proficiency in microservices, RESTful APIs, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps practices
- Knowledge of common smart city and open standards (e.g., OASC, NGSI, FIWARE, ISO 37120)
- Experience with mobile and web technologies, platform integration, and UX design alignment
- Ability to work with cross-functional technical and business teams
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Certification in application architecture (e.g., TOGAF, Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud architecture certifications)
- Experience in smart mobility, digital twins, or e-government service platforms
- Understanding of user journey mapping and human-centered design principles
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual (Arabic and English) is highly desirable
