Job Summary
Slovenian Linguist position supporting YSG/TU for current and future foreign language and linguistic requirements. Responsibilities may include interpretation (in-person and virtual), translation of written/audio/video materials, document review/editing, and foreign language instruction. Additional linguistic services may be required. Open evergreen requisition to support multiple language support roles across the portfolio; candidates may be considered for various language support opportunities as needs arise across government contracts. Travel may be required as mission dictates; roles may involve working in remote/CONUS locations with potential security-clearance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Must be qualified/certified at one of CAT I/II/III levels with ILR English proficiency (ILR level 2+ for CAT I/II; ILR level 3 for CAT III)
- English and target language fluency
- Ability to conduct interpretation and translation (consecutive and accurate)
- Ability to provide idiomatic translations with correct syntax and expression
- Ability to conduct foreign language instruction for adults
- Familiarity with local culture and customs of target language regions
- Willingness and ability to live and work in harsh environments as mission dictates
- Ability to function under high pressure and stress
- Ability to work as part of a highly trained professional team
- Knowledge of specialized vocabulary in both English and the target language(s)
- Ability to preserve tone and register of source materials
- Possession or eligibility for required security clearances (LOCAL NATIONALS/TCN without clearance for CAT I; SECRET for CAT II with U.S. citizenship; TOP SECRET with SCI for CAT III)
- Interpretation/translation accuracy without changes, omissions, or additions
- Experience providing foreign language instruction to adult students
- Ability to work remotely or in varied CONUS locations as required
- Willingness to travel as mission dictates
- Ability to understand a broad range of conversations and technical content as needed
- Clearance and/or background checks as designated by task orders
- CAT I/II/III linguists may be security vetted as required
- Must be able to pass government background checks
