Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment such as Front-end loaders, dump trucks, skid steers, and snowcats to remove snow and maintain safe parking lots and roads. Inspect vehicles and machinery for safe operation, connect hydraulic hoses and mechanical linkages to adjust blades and scoops, and perform minor repairs as needed. Work in compliance with Steamboat safety policies to avoid collisions and unsafe practices. When not snowing, assist in the vehicle shop or operate snowcats as directed by the manager. Although listed as full-time, hours are dictated by weather events. Valid Colorado driver's license and CDL preferred; 2 years of heavy equipment operator experience required.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of previous work history/education
- Valid Colorado driver's license
- Satisfactory driving record
- Meet company's insurance carrier standards
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years' experience as a heavy equipment operator
- 1 year experience in snow removal
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Must be able to sit for up to 6 hours per shift
- Must be able to stand/walk for up to 4 hours per shift
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to bend, squat, climb, twist and reach above shoulder level occasionally
- Must be able to use hands for grasping, pushing/pulling and fine manipulation operation and repair of machinery
- Must be able to walk on uneven slick conditions in extreme weather conditions in both summer and winter
- Must have good night vision for winter grooming
