Job Summary
Move stock to and from slitters, load tube mills, and operate cutting torches. Set up and operate slitter machines to produce slit coils to specifications while checking master coils for gauge and visual defects. Continuously observe slitting and rewinding operations to shut off quickly if necessary. Load and unload master and slit coils, fill out production tags and reports accurately, and notify the supervisor when knives need sharpening. Perform minor maintenance repairs and assist the Maintenance Department with major repairs. This role requires a minimum of two years of slitting steel experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and includes a 30-mile commute from Harvey, IL.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in slitting steel in industrial manufacturing
- Strong sense of time organization and sense of urgency, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to pass the post offer employment process with drug screen
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, slitting steel
- Based out of Harvey, IL, located approximately 30 miles south of Downtown Chicago
