Job Summary
Set up, operate, and monitor the slitting of cold rolled steel to specified widths and tolerances in collaboration with the Production Team Leader. Start conveyors to load steel coils, position coils using cranes or hoists, and thread leading ends through the slitter. Monitor process information, record data for Quality Assurance, and examine knives for defects. Clean, lubricate, and adjust machine controls, speeds, and feed rates. Install dies, cutting blades, and fixtures; hone knives, replace worn parts, and set knife tensions. Measure completed coils, test samples, and attach identification tags. Signal crane operators to move finished product and report maintenance issues. Work rotating shifts to cover 24/7 production at the BILSTEIN facility in Bowling Green, KY.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of High School or Secondary Education
- AS or Technical degree
- 1-3 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts to cover 24/7 production
- Clear Interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
- Be a self-motivated team player
- Be a change agent
Desired Qualifications
- Equivalent experience to High School or Secondary Education
- Knowledge of production and processing of cold rolled would be an advantage
- PC Knowledge (internet/Windows/ERP applications)
- Prior heavy weight crane operation experience
