Job Summary
Operate and support the slitter line to convert metal coils into specified-width products. Assist setup and execution of steel coil slitting/recoiling, monitor safety protocols, perform basic math for setups, and label/pack finished coils. Progress through levels from Level 1 entry duties to Level 3 responsibilities, including line setup, preventative maintenance, quality checks, training new operators, and logging production data. Proficiency with banding equipment, air tools, forklift operations, and adherence to customer specifications is required; crane certification may be pursued for advanced duties.
Required Qualifications
- Level 1 – Entry Level Assistant
- must obtain LOTO and forklift certifications before Level 2
- ability to perform basic math including fractions to decimals
- ability to operate banding line and print coil labels
- basic computer skills
- ability to set up tension stand and process coils
- ability to log in/out of jobs and follow scanning process
- ability to perform basic preventative maintenance
- ability to meet production rates
- ability to train new employees on the banding line
- ability to read and interpret customer specifications
- chemical safety awareness
- team safety responsibilities
- quality checks and end-of-process checks
- documentation accuracy and timely reporting
- cross-training on CTL/TTL and moving toward Level 2
