Job Summary
Start-up and run the Weber Slicer in the sliced meats department, adjusting components, tension, and pressure to ensure product weight and item count accuracy. Sanitize the machine before start-up and throughout the shift, clearing jams and reporting malfunctions to a supervisor. Perform minor preventive maintenance as instructed, read manuals and blueprints, and wear proper PPE while lifting logs weighing up to 35 lbs. Work in wet, cold, and hot refrigerated environments for 8-12 hours per day, with availability for overtime, weekends, and shift changes.
Required Qualifications
- 6 months work history with the same employer
- 6 months of machine operator or forklift experience
- Must be able to lift logs of meat weighing 35 lbs
- Must be able to repeatedly push, pull, lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Must be able to read and understand manuals, blueprints, plant paperwork, labels, etc
- Must be willing and able to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Ability to work overtime and weekends
- Willingness to accommodate shift start time changes
- Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Must be willing and able to work in wet, humid, cold, and hot environments
- Must be willing and able to work in a refrigerated area with ambient temperature of 40 degrees
- Must be willing and able to walk or stand for 8-12 hours per day on hard floors
- Must be willing and able to work in an environment with the sight and smell of meat products or any other product present when processing meat such as blood, fat, bone, spices
- Certain roles at Tyson require background checks
