Job Summary
Start-up and run the Weber Slicer in the sliced meats department, adjusting machine components, tension, and pressure to ensure product weight and item count accuracy. Sanitize the slicer before start-up, clean machinery throughout the shift, and observe operations to maintain quality and conformity to standards. Stop or reset machines for malfunctions, clear jams, and report issues to a supervisor while performing minor preventive maintenance as instructed. Read and understand manuals, blueprints, and plant paperwork; wear proper PPE and lift logs of meat up to 35 lbs. Work the 1st shift in a wet, humid, cold, and hot environment, standing or walking for 8-12 hours per day on hard floors. Ability to work overtime, weekends, and accommodate shift start time changes.
Required Qualifications
- 6 months work history with the same employer
- 6 months of machine operator or forklift experience
- Must be able to lift logs of meat weighing 35 lbs
- Must be able to repeatedly push, pull, lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- Must be able to read and understand manuals, blueprints, plant paperwork, labels, etc
- Must be willing and able to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Ability to work overtime and weekends
- Willingness to accommodate shift start time changes
- Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work in wet, humid, cold, and hot environments
- Ability to work in a refrigerated area with ambient temperature of 40 degrees
- Ability to walk or stand for 8-12 hours per day on hard floors
- Ability to work in an environment with the sight and smell of meat products or any other product present when processing meat such as blood, fat, bone, spices
