Job Summary
Operate company-owned passenger ferries according to schedule, ensuring safe transport of passengers and goods while adhering to Transport Canada safety requirements. Inspect vessels prior to operation to verify equipment function and maintain cleanliness before and after runs. Collect fares from passengers, oversee fuel and supply ordering, and ensure all invoices are recorded and paid. Secure vessels during all weather conditions and lead safety drills including man overboard scenarios, distress radio calls, and emergency steering. Manage Captain's license renewals and first aid certifications, respond to passenger queries, and attend staff meetings as required. Maintain punctuality and flexibility for schedule changes while representing the Band professionally.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- at least 3 years' experience as a Skipper/Mate/Captain or in a similar role
- Master or Mate Limited 150 Gross Tons or more
- SVMO Small Vessel Machinery Operator
- Marine Emergency Duties A2
- ROC-MC Radio Certificate
- current Marine Medical
- Marine Basic First Aid
- Previous experience with commercial passenger vessels
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to embodying a personal addiction-free lifestyle
- current Criminal Record Check
- Vulnerable Sector Screening
- valid driver's license
