Job Summary
The Skilled Tradesman performs specialized maintenance, installation, repair, and construction work across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, welding, or painting trades to maintain state-owned facilities. Responsibilities include supervising, mentoring, and evaluating staff; serving as SME for public health domains (e.g., chronic disease prevention, infectious disease control, environmental health, maternal and child health, emergency preparedness); providing technical leadership in policy development and strategic planning; overseeing program development, execution, and evaluation to align with priorities, grant requirements, and best practices; monitoring outcomes with qualitative and quantitative data; overseeing budget development, fiscal reporting, and resource allocation; guiding grant applications and audits; and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Preferred qualifications include a High-Pressure Boiler Operator license. Knowledge and skills emphasize diagnostic ability, blueprint/schematic interpretation, safe operation of trade tools and equipment, and preventative maintenance expertise.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; at least two (2) years of experience in one or more skilled trades
- Trade-related certifications or licensure may be required by the trade
