Skilled Maintenance Technician

Job Summary
Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on HVAC systems, boilers, kitchen equipment, and refrigeration units across church and school campuses. Maintain accurate records of equipment conditions, deficiencies, and completed work while developing a comprehensive tracking system for maintenance requests. Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues, building alarms, and emergency calls, including after-hours situations, to ensure safe and comfortable temperatures throughout occupied spaces. Perform installations, thermostat adjustments, and lock hardware repairs in compliance with building codes and safety standards. Utilize eSpace software for work order management and documentation. Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating with the Director of Support Services and contractors to manage changing priorities and time-sensitive needs. Maintain a safe work environment and properly store tools and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems
- Universal EPA Section 608 certification
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and equipment
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, changing priorities, and time-sensitive maintenance needs effectively
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies, assess the severity of a situation, exercise sound judgment, and determine when outside assistance or specialized contractors are required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively as part of a facilities maintenance team
- Demonstrated initiative, reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic
- Knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC controls, alarm systems, and related facility systems
- Working knowledge of applicable safety practices, building codes, equipment requirements, and maintenance procedures
- Extensive knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment, materials, supplies, and standard maintenance practices
- Ability to safely work from ladders, lifts, scaffolding, or other approved equipment at heights of up to 80 feet
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry 50–100 pounds and frequently lift and carry 20–50 pounds
- Ability and willingness to learn new equipment, technologies, systems, and maintenance procedures
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills when working with church and school staff, students, members, guests, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders
- Ability to represent the organization professionally and demonstrate conduct consistent with its Christian mission and values
Desired Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in HVAC, facilities maintenance, commercial building maintenance, or a related field
