Job Summary
Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by scraping, caulking, stripping, sand blasting, power washing, and spot priming. Mix, tint, and apply paints and stains using spray applications and standard methods on buildings, fixtures, signs, and equipment. Build and tear down scaffolding up to 50 feet, perform repairs to ceilings and windows, and respond to emergency duty assignments. Lead or instruct employees as delegated, schedule work, and maintain records of time and materials. Requires four years of painting experience, a valid Virginia driver's license, and ability to work in outside weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Four (4) years of experience in all aspects of painting
- any combination of experience and training that would provide knowledge, abilities, and skills
- equivalent training, education, and/or experience
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices of painting work
- Knowledge of the use of safety data sheets
- Ability to perform difficult painting and staining jobs
- Ability to work from ladders (including extension ladders), mechanical lifts and scaffolds (up to 50 feet in height)
- Ability to comply with all safety rules and regulations of the trade
- Ability to prepare surfaces for painting and perform minor repairs related to painting projects
- Ability to mix paints and stains and to tint
- Ability to read, to write and follow instructions
- Skill in the application of paint and other finishes and methods, techniques and tools used in the trade
- Skill in the care and use of paint brushes, spray guns and other painting tools
- Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or General Education (GED) is preferred
