Job Summary
Operate jackhammers, drills, and power tools to position, join, align, and seal structural components like concrete walls and pipes. Mix, pour, and spread concrete while tending pumps and compressors to provide power for machinery. Clean and prepare construction sites, dig trenches, and handle materials up and down slopes using hand tools and pneumatic tampers. Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, and traffic barricades, and signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment. Lubricate, clean, and repair tools, and apply caulking compounds by hand or gun. Work long, flexible hours including nights, weekends, and extended periods outside during all seasons. Maintain regular attendance and follow safety regulations while providing assistance to craft workers.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 21 years old
- Valid driver license
- Clean driving record
- Must have regular and predictable attendance
- Must have reliable transportation to the job site
- Must not be frightened of heights or working near or over water
- Must be willing to work nights and/or weekends if needed
- Must be able to lift or move heavy weight material (over 80 pounds)
- Ability to continuously work around noise, dust, heat, cold, oil and heavy equipment
- Ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly
- Ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- General construction experience
- Bridge construction experience
