Job Summary
Read blueprints, measure materials, and operate heavy machinery to assist with concrete placement, demolition, grading, and formwork on highway and bridge projects. Perform physical labor including lifting, carrying, and moving equipment while inspecting structures for defects and ensuring safety compliance. Operate small hand and power tools, load/unload materials, and support setup of temporary structures like scaffolding. Work independently with limited supervision, often requiring weekend, night, and all-weather shifts. Reports to superintendents and field supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy highway, bridge, or civil construction
- Experience working on bridge structures, including concrete, formwork, demolition, or rehabilitation activities
- Basic ability to read construction plans, measurements, and layout information
- Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety practices
- Strong attention to quality, safety, and productivity
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while contributing as part of a team
- Effective communication skills
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, walk, and work at heights for extended periods
- Lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs
- Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects while carrying tools and equipment
- Must be able to work on weekends and at night when needed, sometimes with limited notice
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions
- A pre-employment drug screen is required
